strategically located in the Southeast section of the state and is called the "Hub City".
This strategic location has allowed Hattiesburg to develop as the educational,
retail, and medical center for more than a quarter of a million people who live

Hattiesburg was founded in
the late 1800's as a railroad junction in the yellow pine forests of south Mississippi.
By the turn of the century, the small town of Hattiesburg had emerged as a bustling
and vibrant "Hub City" for an entire region. The Historic Downtown Association works to preserve the historic heritage of Downtown Hattiesburg. Click the lamp and take a look.
Building a better community through philantrophy. The Greater Hattiesburg Community Foundation was created in 1997 by a group of civic and business leaders who realized the need for a local community foundation to serve as a steward for community improvement. Click the growing city for details.
